You live a messy and unimpressive life. You have issues. Brokenness. Shame and guilt. The struggle to break free from addictions. Anger. Relationships. Debt. Fear. And if you think you’re doing OK, you’re worse than you think you are. But there is good news: if you know the Lord, He loves your messy and unimpressive life.
if you know the Lord, He is your good shepherd who cares for you. He is living water to your thirsty soul. He is bread from heaven that feeds and sustains you. He is the light of the world that brightens your path through darkness. He is the way, truth, and life through a world of confusion, lies, bleakness, and death. He promises resurrection and everlasting life to all who believe in Him. How much greater is Jesus than all the troubles you face this season?
And He, the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, loves your messy and unimpressive life. God loves you so much He gave His one and only Son, that all who believe in Him would not perish but have everlasting life. God shows his love for you in that while you were still a sinner, Christ died for you. He is a God of steadfast love and He sets His love on those who are unlovely. He always acts in love towards the world, His church, and individuals. In this God displays and works out His love: that He sent his only Son into the world so that you might live through him. In this is love, not that you loved God but that he loved you and sent his Son to be the payment for your sins. In this you can rejoice!
Maybe you don’t know the Lord today. He loves you and forgives you through His Son Jesus. Your sins are many, but His mercy is more. He richly forgives and pours out His grace and mercy. Today is the day to confess your sins and turn your eyes upon Jesus. He stands at the ready to receive you, fix you, mend you, love you. If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord who died for your sin and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. The good news of Jesus’ death and resurrection is the power of God for all who would believe.
Be honest. Even the big stars lead messy lives. Those in Hollywood bear witness. Harry and Meghan struggle as much as you and I. God loves you and your messy, unimpressive life. Come to Him today, if you are weary and heavy-laden. He loves you and will give you rest.
