what keeps you going

You’re going through a rough time right now. There’s more month than money, or the diagnosis wasn’t what you expected. The relationship has soured, and you don’t know what tomorrow will bring. I want to assure you that God was and is in control of this, and He will be in control of your situation, whatever comes.

I want to remind you of Philippians 2:23 when Paul says, “How it will go…” Remember this is Paul, who had his road to Damascus experience, who wrote most of the New Testament, and he doesn’t know how things are going to turn out for him. That’s amazing! He is uncertain about his future, but hoping and trusting in the Lord day by day for whatever events that will come about. The providence of God will not let him down.

In Matthew 6:25-34 Jesus said, “Be anxious for nothing.” The Lord knows what you need, and He will provide. Seek first his kingdom and his righteousness and everything else will be added to you. Your ultimate security is not in the wealth of this world, but in God, who will meet all your needs. Worry is debilitating; instead, cast all your worries and anxieties on Him because He cares for you (1 Peter 5:7).

However, be prepared. In Mark 4:26-29, the farmer didn’t sit home on his hands and do nothing. He scattered his seed on the ground and did what he was responsible for, then he went to bed and the seed sprouted on its own. We take the steps we need, and trust the Lord will do the rest; He is working behind the scenes. We can’t explain how things work, but God is in charge the whole time.

“Run with endurance the race set before you. Lay aside every weight, worry, and sin that drags you down, and look to Jesus. He is the founder and perfecter of your faith. He endured the cross, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God (Hebrews 12:1-2).” Amen.
