pursuing the wind

“Alas, poor truth, I knew thee well.” Truth is dead. I don’t remember using this space before to comment on current events, but two recent and related happenings must be addressed. I am not schilling for any political party, but only wish to analyze and speak to what the Bible says about these events. What is Biblical truth concerning the male and female sexes?

Recently, Will Thomas, a biological male with xy chromosomes, who identifies as Lia Thomas, competed in female swimming events at the college level. Will won the NCAA Women’s National Swimming Championship in the 500-yard freestyle event and it is nothing to be celebrated. It is unfair in woman’s sports and wrong and destructive to Will and other female swimmers. It is unfortunate and untrue.

Also recently in March, Women’s History Month, the first black woman nominee for our nation’s Supreme Court, Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson, was asked, “Can you provide a definition for the word, ‘woman?’” She replied, “I can’t, not in this context.” Does she not know that a woman is a female with xx chromosomes, capable of bearing and birthing children? It is absurd and unfortunate and untethered from reality that a Harvard Law graduate, Supreme Court nominee, and judge, by all other evidence a “smart lady,” could not or would not define her own sex.

Hosea 12:1 says, “Ephraim (my people) feeds on the wind and pursues the east wind all day long.” It is true today that the “powers that be” are chasing and feeding on emptiness by promoting the transgender agenda and not what is true and self-evident for millennia. Sex as male and female, binary, for the purpose of marriage and reproducing, is God-defined, God-designed, and God-ordained from the time He created them that way, for that purpose and function. Genesis 1 is clear in all these matters and a beacon of truth and light in these dark times.

The sooner we return to these truths, the better our culture and society will be. It is insanity to live otherwise. Yet, I’m afraid “we can’t handle the truth.” Truth has died in women’s swimming (and other sports that allow men to compete as women) and at our Supreme Court. I don’t know the spiritual heart of Will or Judge Jackson, but God gives grace on top of grace for anyone who repents and turns to Him, through Jesus.
