June is the month when our country takes pride in sin and immoral acts against God, where cities in every state will hold parades that celebrate homosexuality. Sexual immorality in any form is not the will of God. Homosexuality, pornography, prostitution, adultery, “hooking up,” and sex before and outside of marriage are harmful, hurtful, and destructive. It is against God’s good design and purpose. No form of sexual immorality is to be promoted or proud of.
Sexual immorality is evil thoughts we are to flee from. It comes from our hearts, which are dead in trespasses and sins against God. It is following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, following the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience. It is carrying out the desires of the flesh and the mind, exchanging the truth and glory of God for lusts and passions that do not acknowledge or honor God. And you may be sure of this, that everyone who is sexually immoral or impure, or who is covetous (that is, an idolater), has no inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God (Ephesians 5:5).
We love these people; they are our friends, family, neighbors, and coworkers. They are under God’s wrath and will face His judgment and punishment for their sin, and we pray for them, warn them, and witness to them about God’s truth and forgiveness through Christ. This is the good news: God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which He loved us, makes us alive together with Christ. By His grace you are saved! We want to see that happen to all who rebel and stand against Him. Not only are we saved, but He raised us up with Him and seated us with Him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus. God shows the immeasurable riches of His grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. For by grace you have been saved through faith (Ephesians 2:4-8).
If you are gay, if you are sexually broken, there is hope in Christ. Christ gives you a new heart, new passions, and desires. He restores and frees you from your bondage in slavery to these lusts. He makes all things new. If you don’t know Christ, you are apart from God. You are unholy, self-absorbed, and self-exalting. You will receive His wrath, punishment, and hell. But God is forgiving. He gives love and life and extends mercy to those who need it. Receive His gift of salvation today. Put off the old and put on the new. Be new in Christ today.
