the promises of God

March 5, 2020 by Leigh Warmbrand

The world is ugly and broken. There is abuse, divorce, cancer, sudden death – you get the idea. How will you survive through tough times? “Being a good person” won’t cut it. Trusting in your own abilities will fail. You don’t have enough money to buy your way out of the mess you’re in. Friends abandon you. Where will you turn?

God made promises to His people. “I will never leave you nor forsake you. Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid. I will supply every need of yours according to my riches in glory. Do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? . . . But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. We know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose. Behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” We can stand on His promises. God keeps His Word.

Do you know Christ the Lord today? Can you claim His promises? You must be born again. No one can come to the Father except through Jesus. He died for your sinful nature and many sins. Repent of your sins today and trust in Him alone. His blood was shed and He died in your place and took the punishment due you. For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. Become the righteousness of God. Be reconciled to God today.

Then, stand on His promises. Claim them for your own. Write them down. Memorize them. Tape them to your bathroom mirror or refrigerator. Share them with a friend or others in need. Apply them to your heart. He that is in you is greater than he who is in the world. No weapon formed against you will prosper. The world may be pretty ugly and broken today, but there is hope in tomorrow. There is hope in God, through Christ and His Spirit.
